Lesson of the Week

Congratulations Mr. Betekhtin, Mrs. Morris, and Officer Griffin!!!

History literally came to life in Mr. Betekhtin and Mrs. Morris’ class! With the incredible help of Officer Griffin, our students stepped right into the world of Ancient Greece—exploring how geography, climate, and culture shaped civilizations and ultimately changed the art of war. This wasn’t just reading from a textbook… this was full-on immersive learning!

Students learned about ancient Greek warfare, military formations, and how soldiers protected themselves in battle. Officer Griffin guided students through hands-on demonstrations while teachers made academic connections, highlighting how environmental factors and cultural beliefs shaped combat strategies in ancient times. Talk about experiential learning!

And of course, it wouldn’t be RMS without a little real-world twist! Students even made modern-day comparisons like the infamous Philadelphia Eagles “tush push” —connecting ancient battle formations to today’s sports strategies. Huge shoutout to Mr. Betekhtin, Mrs. Morris, and Officer Griffin for bringing our curriculum to life and giving students an unforgettable lesson in history, culture, and critical thinking!
